Leather Clip-on Pouch Review

One day while attending a local street fair I came across this leather clip-on purse and thought, “What a great idea for bikers!” They’ve probably been around awhile, but for me, it was something new.

Regular purses aren’t very practical for riders. When you are not riding, shoulder bags slip off riding gear too easily and clutch bags always seem to get in the way when you have a helmet and other items to carry.

Backpack purses are workable but then you have to take it off to get your gear off. That’s fine if you are riding alone or with other girls, but what if you are riding with a larger group? Not everyone likes to wait around while you manage all your ‘stuff’.

Now, you could always get a fanny pack to keep your hands free, but let’s face it. They aren’t very stylish.

So what’s the solution?

The clip-on pouch, of course. The clips attach to your belt loops to keep your hands free and they are as stylish as you want them to be. Here’s a selection available on the market now.

The one I have is quite simple in design, but very practical. It has a 3″ x 5.5″ Velcro pocket on the front along with 2 other zip pockets. The zipper on top opens into the main area.

As you can see I’m able to carry my phone, wallet, lip gloss, and even a fold-up hairbrush. Sometimes I’ll add a small moisturizer bottle. I keep my main credit card in the middle section for easy access when purchasing fuel for the bike.

The only problem I’ve discovered with my clip-on purse is that the Velcro doesn’t always hold, especially while riding in high wind areas. Since that’s where I keep my phone I was worried it might fall out. So I attached a snap to the corner to keep it more secure. Now I just need to remember to snap it before my ride!

Although this purse looks relatively new, it’s traveled close to 10,000 miles with me. Obviously, real leather holds up well. For me, it’s one of those ‘must have’ items while traveling.

Whenever we stop my most important items are safely secured to my pants for easy access. No more worrying about having my wallet in an unattended jacket pocket or walking around trying to manage a helmet, other gear and a purse.

Such a simple solution that makes my ride more enjoyable.

So where can you get it? I had to do some searching online to find a retailer, but you can get it at CowGoodies.com.

I’ve also seen it on ebay but you’ll need to search yourself to find what’s currently available. You may even find it in other colors besides black. It measures 7” x 5.5” and includes a shoulder strap.
